Grove Studios is our home — a purpose-built creative space in the heart of Gravesend town centre. Robyn Academy of Dance & Theatre Arts is the school that lives within it, delivering exceptional dance and performance training for ages 3½ to adult.
Together we form a complete artistic community: a welcoming venue and a professional academy working in harmony to inspire confidence, creativity, and connection through movement and performance.
Our qualified, caring team and age-based curriculum ensure that every student — from their very first plié to the thrill of their first live performance — grows at their own pace and shines in their own way.
The Grove is also proud to be home to the Taboo Dance Company — our vibrant street and commercial dance programme working alongside our existing Robyn Academy programmes to offer students an even wider world of movement, style, and performance.

From tiny tots taking their first steps to seasoned performers honing their craft — there's a programme for every age, level, and ambition.
Mini Robyns
Ages 3 – 4½
The perfect first step into the world of dance. Mini Robyns introduces our youngest students to music and movement through imaginative, play-based classes that build confidence, coordination, and a lifelong love of dancing in a warm, nurturing setting.
Little Robyns
Ages 4½ – 7
Building on the foundations of Mini Robyns, Little Robyns introduces more structured technique as children grow in confidence and ability. Classes combine ballet, tap, and creative dance in an encouraging environment where every child shines.
Robyn Academy Dance
Ages 7+ · All levels
The natural progression from Little Robyns — six genres taught by fully qualified teachers with graded examinations and performance opportunities. Ballet, Tap, Contemporary Jazz, Lyrical, Leaps Kicks & Turns, and Acrobatic.
Taboo Dance Company
Ages 4+
High-energy, feel-good classes blending street dance, commercial, and freestyle. Taboo is where personality meets performance — bold, dynamic, and seriously fun. IDO World & European Champions, Carl Alan Award winners.
Singing & Theatre
Ages 7+
Unlock your voice and command the stage. Robyn Academy's Singing & Theatre classes combine vocal technique, acting skills, and musical theatre performance — the complete package for aspiring performers.
Private Competition Coaching
All Ages · By Appointment
One-to-one and small group coaching for competitive dancers. Our experienced faculty work with students preparing solos, duos, and group routines — refining technique, artistry, and performance quality for festival and competition success.
Robyn Academy Dance
The natural next step from Mini & Little Robyns — six genres taught by IDTA-qualified teachers, with graded examinations and performance from age 7 upward.
Classical Ballet
Ages 7+ · All levels
Ballet provides the technique that is the foundation of all dance — developing posture, alignment and artistry from Primary through to Advanced.
Tap Dance
Ages 7+ · All levels
A rhythmical and joyful style with origins spanning the globe. Building on tap foundations from Little Robyns, we offer graded examinations through IDTA from beginner to advanced.
Contemporary Jazz
Ages 7+ · All levels
A rhythmic dance style known for its theatrical qualities. The style uses travelling steps, high kicks, leaps and turns requiring strength, flexibility and showmanship.
Lyrical & Contemporary
Ages 7+ · All levels
Blending elements of ballet and jazz — more fluid than ballet, faster than pure jazz. Combined with contemporary, this genre develops deep artistic expression and personal movement voice.
Leaps, Kicks & Turns
Ages 8+ · All levels
A dedicated technical class targeting pirouettes, fouettés, grand allegro, switch leaps and high kicks — building the strength and consistency needed for examination and stage work.
Acrobatic
Ages 6+ · All levels
Dance meets acrobatics. Students build flexibility, core strength and body awareness — progressing from cartwheels through to aerials and advanced acro skills woven into performance choreography.
Musical Theatre
Juniors · All levels
A lively and creative class for young performers combining singing, acting, and dance! Designed to build confidence, storytelling skills, and stage presence through fun songs, energetic choreography, and imaginative drama activities. Perfect for juniors who love to shine and express themselves in a supportive and playful environment.
Acting
All Ages · All levels
An engaging class designed to develop your acting skills through improvisation, character work, and scene study. Whether you're a beginner or looking to deepen your craft, you'll build confidence, creativity, and emotional expression in a supportive, fun environment. Perfect for aspiring actors of all ages ready to bring stories to life on stage or screen.
All genres are part of the Robyn Academy graded programme. Students may join individual genres or combine multiple disciplines.
